The United Way in the San Francisco Bay Area takes a holistic and innovative approach to bringing an end to the poverty cycle in the Bay Area. It does this through programs and advocacy supporting all age groups; offering free access to family support; job opportunities, basic requirements and financial stability. The gifts that come in the form of funds and other contributions from people dedicated to helping the poor and the downtrodden are used for the well being of the people who are not able to make ends meet in the Bay Area. The United Way runs a number of poverty-fighting innovative programs like:

- SparkPoint: This is The United Way’s one-stop financial education center. Here, people get easy access to multiple services and free coaching as well.
- EAM or Emergency Assistance Network, Santa Clara County: This program by The United Way creates a kind of safety net consisting of important services for the residents of Santa Clara County.
