Carol Scraper, who recently retired as director of operations for San Jacinto Methodist Family Medicine Residency, has been elected president of the board of directors for United Way of Baytown Area for 2010-2011.
Also elected to leadership positions on the board are Kelly Carpenter, vice president, of the City of Baytown; and Roger Elswick, secretary-treasurer, of Community Toyota/Kia.
New United Way board members for 2010-2011 include Rico Burch of ExxonMobil Baytown Complex, Guido Persiani of Bayer, B.J. Simon of Baytown-West Chambers County Economic Development Foundation, Pam Warford of Lee College and Steve Yatauro of ExxonMobil Baytown Complex. Each will serve a three-year term.
In addition to Scraper, Carpenter and Elswick, holdover members of the board include Irma Bundage who is retired from Goose Creek Schools, Cliff Clements who is retired from The Baytown Sun, Gilbert Santana of Baytown Drafting Inc. and Staffing Connection, Eric Hudson of the City of Baytown, Dr. Greg Poole of Barbers Hill ISD, Carlton Porter of CenterPoint Energy and Mike Wilson of Amegy Bank.
Retiring board members who were recognized at the recent United Way of Baytown Area annual meeting include Lynne Foley of Lee College, Mary Norman of ExxonMobil Baytown Complex, Leonard Scott of ExxonMobil Baytown Complex, and David Womack of Bayer. Also, Margie Conway of Chevron Phillips served through April 2010 before resigning her board position as the result of a job transfer.
Other awards at the annual meeting went to Gilbert Santana, for his service during 2009-2010 as United Way board president; Diane Dougherty, for chairing the Council of Members for 2009-2010; Lynne Foley, for chairing the campaign events committee; and David Womack, for chairing the allocations committee.
United Way of Baytown Area funds 21 agencies and programs that provide a variety of health and human services for Baytown, McNair, Highlands and Chambers County.
